Congratulations ZPB

ZPB Clinch Under-19 Dutch Waterpolo Championship

Bert Lichtenberg, the team manager sent  me a note last week-end stating that earlier this month, the their team won the Dutch national championship for the Under 19 category.  He rightly pointed out that the initial step of this feat, was made last August when a group of twenty-five dutch waterpolo players started their preparation in a training camp held in Malta as hosts of our Club. It was an intensive week for the boys that included a few friendly matches against the same age group teams of  the local waterpolo clubs. In the final four tournament, the team ended the winners beating the finalists 8-5.

Long connection

The ties between the two clubs Exiles and Zwem -en Polovereniging Barendrecht date back to over twenty years when in the Easter holidays of 1991 between the 27th March and 7th April, Stephen Muscat and Francis Pace Lupi lead a  group of promising youngsters that were hosted in Barendrecht by the families of the players. This was reciprocated later on the  summer of that year when it was the turn of the families of our players that took care of their Dutch guests. That bond still holds as over the next years Exiles made use of the connection to bring over from ZPB  to coaches and players.

The Committee of Exiles would like to congratulate ZPB for their recent sporting achievement.
