From The President ……………… March 2006

As we look forward to the start of spring, and hopefully warmer days ahead, we also cast our eyes on the sleepy Summer months when our club will become a hive of activity and relaxation (for some).

The foreign player issue is almost resolved from our point of view as we have verbally succeeded in acquiring the services of a top Dutch International player who is playing in Greece and whose team is amongst the front-runners in the Greek First Division.

Towards the end of last month, both the Senior team and the Under 15’s and Under 17’s started their training program in preparation for their Summer commitments. The Committee, following consultations with coach Dirk Dowling, decided against the participation of the senior waterpolo team in the Wilkinson Sword Winter League for a number of reasons, mainly the fact that our team was beginning its preparations just ten days prior to the start of the competition and also due to the fact that a couple of our main players, namely David Pace Lupi and Timmy Sullivan are still abroad pursuing their studies and work experiences. Both are training however and should join the team in June.

We have recently confirmed the registration of six of our home-grown players whose contracts had expired. This was an important issue for the club because it ensures that we will keep reaping the benefits of our youth policies in the years to come.

Finally we are actively working to prepare the club premises for the Summer months with some much needed works both in the club showers and in the bar. Further details will follow shortly ….
