Thursday the 27th August 2015 was a red letter day for fifteen members of the squad that represented the Club forty years ago in the Second Division League and Knock-Out Competitions organized by the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA) as the local governing aquatic federation was better known those days. A Re-Union was organized to commemorate 40 years since the winning by the Club of its first major honour by lifting the Knock-Out trophy on the 8th September 1975. It was a long evening of reminiscing the good old days when waterpolo was a different game indeed.
The ex-players who made it were Brain Camilleri, Vanni Bruno, Tony ‘Ghannej’ Camilleri, Francis Pace Lupi, Ray Manara -who flew specifically for the special occasion, Martin ‘Bu Bum’ Frendo, Peter Paris and Pierre Cauchi who stood up for the photo. The fitter guys who squatted were David Abela, Patrick Busuttil, Edgar ‘Skier” Montanaro, Kevin Camilleri, Arthur B. Testaferrata and Karol Farrugia. Photo was taken by Adrian Farrugia who also formed part of the 1975 team but the group photo taken by a tired member of the Exiles catering staff at the end of the night, did not satisfy Adrian’s photographic standards.
Unavoidably missing were Sandro Vukovic and Stephen Muscat who could not make it with the latter unable to travel from the UK but promised to send a few walking sticks for those who squatted and had to be helped to straighten up.
