Exiles’ strength and concentration failed them when in last night’s match against San Giljan, they could not maintain the tempo of the Saints who ended the encounter with a comfortable win of 19-10.
Partial scores (3-5) (3-3) (2-5) (2-6)
At the half-way mark Exiles manged to keep the pace with their stronger opponnts limiting the scorline to a two-goal deficit (6-8) after the Saints had opened a four goal lead which was trimmed by the end of the second session. In the third session, San Giljan changed tactics and resorted to a crowded defence which forced Exiles’ shooters to pot from outside as their dangerman Milos Vukicevic was boxed in the hole. The fourth and final quarter was a repeat of the previous session as San Giljan players outswam their opponents to score at liberty.
The match was shorn of exclusions with just three San Giljan players being sent into the cage and just one man-up being converted by Exiles. Our team had five players sent out with the Saints converting just one with a penalty being awarded aginst and scored.
The following players were utilized- Ian Bugeja, Julian Rizzo Naudi (3 goals), Simon Vassallo (1 goal), David Pace Lupi (1 goal), Daniel Borg Millo (1 goal), Edward Gravina, Luca Felice, Kurt Griscti (1 goal), Nicky Paris, Andrea Bianchi (1 goal), Gianni Ciappara, Milos Vukicevic (2 goals), and Kayne Lanzon.
Next match sees Exiles taking on Neptunes on Saturday 9th July at 18.00
