Exiles 15 Sliema 4
(Partial scores (5-0) (4-2) (4-2) (2-0)
Gordon Zammit’s Ladies made Exiles proud earlier this evening when they brushed aside Sliema’s opposition 15-4 in match which was dominated by Exiles from the first swim-up.
By the end of the first quarter, Exiles piled an unassailable lead of five goals (5-0) to practically end the proceedings. A solid defence with Exiles’ keeper Abby Bonello keeping their opponents at bay. Sliema managed to squeeze in two goals in the last part of the second session after Exiles had widened their lead to eight (8-0) but at the halfway stage, Gordon Zammit’s girls had a comfortable seven-goal lead (9-2). The Exiles coach had to make changes to his defensive plans after Kendra Navarro had her second major foul in the first minute of the second quarter. The third and fourth quarters were a formality with Exiles players being rotated but still found the net on six occasions against the two conceded.
The Exiles Ladies’ squad included Abbey Bonello, Isabella Sammut, Kaia Agius, Kendra Navarro (2 goals), Elena Borg (5 goals), Martina Darmanin, Alyssa Diacono (4 goals), Agnese Rella (2 goals), Maria Gatt, Giulia Zammit Londarel, Kela Zammit (2 goals), Maia Bonello and Elisa Spiteri.
At the end of the match, the ASA General Secretary Rita Azzopardi, presented the trophy to Exiles’ skipper, Elena Borg.
Congratulations go to the whole team for an impressive performance.
