Sliema 6 Exiles Jetfreight 5
Another positive display by Kayne Lanzon’s team was not enough to book a berth in the ‘final four’ of the Enemed Waterpolo Cup when earlier tonight Exiles bowed to neighbours Sliema in Play-Off match 1, which the Blues emerged winners with a slender goal.
It was a balanced affair at the mid-way mark (4-4), before Sliema took a two-goal lead in the third session thanks to two blunders committed by Exiles and paid dearly by being eliminated. In the final quarter, Exiles pressed hard for a dramatic equalizer but their attacks failed to find their opponents’ net.
Exiles now wait until the Tournament’s final day’s match card on Sunday 28th January when the top six teams play for the final classification, For the 5th/6th place, they meet Valletta United the losers of Play-Off match 2 in the second of tonight’s two-match programme.
