In the first competitive season of 1970, Exiles finished at the bottom of the League Table with no points won out of the six matches played. The first goals were scored by Karol Farrugia and Sandro Vukovic in a heavy defeat at the hands of Ta’ Xbiex (2-8) in a match played on Sunday the 19th July.
Ironically, the best performances were against the eventual league winners Birzebbuga when Exiles lost 1-2 and 1-3.
Exiles had to wait for the next season to register the first points won in a competitive match. Exiles played Ta’Xbiex in the first round and finished 3-3 in a thrilling match. The other point was won when within a week from our partial success when Exiles drew against Marsaxlokk 2-2 with goals coming from a solo effort from Frederick Mifsud Bonnici and an own goal by the opponents’goalkeeper.
