The Malta Under-17 team yesterday beat the visiting South African Team (team 1) 7-6 in an exciting match.
Exiles in collaboration with the ASA is organising a 5 team Under-17 Tournament this weekend and next week, with 2 teams visiting from South Africa, a British team, a Dutch team and the Maltese Under seventeen’s.
Malta forged ahead in the first and second sessions with goals from Darren Zammit, Matthias Azzopardi, Jacob Sciberras and Jamie Gambin, to be leading 4-1 after the first two sessions. The South Africans (1) came from Aden Parker.
Session three both teams scored two goals each for the score to read 6-3.
Session four saw the South Africans rally back, taking that session 1-3, and at one time drawing 6-6, for Malta to go ahead in the final seconds 7-6 with a goal by Michael Cutajar.
