Among the 154 guests which swarmed the Exiles Clubhouse for the opening night of the summer season, there was Jerry Birmingham who was accompanied by his wife Sarah. They were both finishing off their week’s stay in Malta which they describe as their second home. Jerry has visited the Island quite a few number times and he is considered as one of us.
Jerry Birmingham was the first foreign player to sign for Exiles when the ASA introduced a new rule in 1983 and which allowed all local waterpolo clubs to sign foreign players on their books.
Last Saturday’s Barbecue Night was a successful event for the Club. Among the attendees one could notice a few Exiles ‘Oldies’ like Michael Abela, Stephen Muscat and Arthur Borg Testaferrata whilst it was pleasant also seeing at the same event, former waterpolo star Dirk Dowling who was at the first team’s helm during the early 2000.
