Launch of the Exiles Website

We are very excited to have finally launched our new website design after almost six months in development! You’ll see things are looking pretty fresh and it’s all been completely re-coded from the ground up.

Around September 2012 the Committee came up with the idea to re-design our entire website. The idea this time was to completely re-design, re-create, and move everything over to a new design and have it done by professional designers.

We entrusted this re-design to a professional UK based Webdesign house; Five or Six Web Design

A few of our goals with the new website were to make it faster, easier to navigate for users, and easier for us to manage/update. Most of all, we wanted to help our followers get to know us better. If you take a browse around the site I think you’ll get a pretty good idea of the change and revamp. One of the considerations in the re-design was to offer a backend which can be managed by a team rather than one person.

One of the main changes from the past is that of moving to a WordPress setup which lends to a Content Management Systems (CMS) which is something well overdue for the Club; something which will allow many of the Committee to parthake in and contribute in a direct way to the web pages being published.

A second aspect is the Social Media aspect of the new look Website of the Club; where the Website itself publishes content of facebook on its homepage, as well as offers links to Twitter and YouTube directly online.

A third and more important part of this new look Website is the movement and automation which has been achieved throughout the pages and as well on the homepage; displaying latest news snippets, Instagram images and YouTube clips.

I also want to highlight some of the harder parts about doing this re-launch. Probably the hardest was trying to keep releasing updated content and themes that were useful to our followers and keeping it live and vibrant. Distributing the content and its update between all who want to contribute, and keeping a similar look-and-feel and content standard.

We are excited to get back to making themes and plugins full-steam – and we thank Peter and Ryan of FIVEORSIX for their constant drive and collaboration in this project – we feel good about the fact that our website has the ability to facilitate that much better the communication between our followers and the club management. One of the aims was to get our followers to participate in our teams endevours, and offer their feedback, themes and images and support.

As always, if you have any questions or need help you can contact us at support@exiles.com.mt or infor@exiles.com.mt – or leave us some thoughts in the page Contact us.
