Easy win for San Giljan

San Giljan 11 Exiles Jetfreight 3

Partial scores (5-0) (1-3) (4-0) (1-0)

There was no contest in tonight’s encounter between current leaders San Giljan and Exiles when the former easily disposed of their opponents. It was in the first and third sessions that San Giljan showed their superiority scoring nine goals without conceding any. In the second session, Exiles won the quarter 3-1 to close the gap to three goals (3-6) at the half-way mark. The last session was a formality with the neighbours scoring just one goal. Both coaches Dorian Pisani and Marko Orlov, took the opportunity of this one-way match to make use of practically all their players at their disposal.

It must be stated that Exiles were shorn of two injured players Timmy Sullivan and Benjii Lanzon with the latter watching proceedings from the stands after being ruled out for the next few weeks. Both coaches opted for changes between the respective goal-posts. Steve Galea Pace made his debut for Exiles and after a shaky start, he made some fine saves whilst San Giljan put in young goalkeeper Thomas Micallef who also had an encouraging start.

For the record, Exiles were awarded two penalties with only one of which being converted. The four man-up situations  were all missed. They also suffered eight exclusions which San Giljan converted two whilst the three penalties conceded were all scored by their opponents.

Coach Pisani had the following players at his disposal – Steve Galea Pace, Julian Rizzo Naudi, Jake Bajada, Michele Stellini (1 goal), Sean Xerri de Caro, Daniel Borg Millo, Kurt Griscti (1 goal), Nicky Paris (1 goal), Andrea Bianchi, Chris von Brockdorff, Luca Felice and Matthew Castillo.

The final match in the preliminary round before the classification clashes take place, will be on Tuesday 18th April.Exiles take on Sliema at 18.30 hours at the National Pool.
