Exiles 2 Sirens 4

The team’s performance was definitely a marked improvement on the previous outings. In the defence, Sean Gravina’s position as last man instilled confidence in the rest of the team and after his second major foul half-way through the second session, other players gave a hand in thwarting the damage in the centre as Sirens seemed to have one tactic of feeding their dangerous centre Zach Mizzi. Dorian Pisani’s plan seemed to be ticking well as the Exiles fort was well protected by an inspiring Ian Bugeja and which forced our opponents to resort to long range shooting.

More accuracy in their finishing, would have seen Exiles overcome the Northerners but this ended up being the Boys’ downfall and loss of all the points. The second session saw Exiles miss a few chances whilst lack of concentration in the defence cost two goals from the centre in the third and fourth session.

Exiles missed a penalty awarded in the first session and had six man-ups one of which, the very first one, was converted. Sirens had four numerical advantage situations and also found the net once.

With Andrea Bianchi available after nursing a head injury, Dorian had a full squad at his disposal and was brave enough to draft two youngsters in the initial first seven, Nicky Paris and Daniel Borg Millo.  The other players  utilized were Ian Bugeja, Julian Rizzo Naudi, Simon Vassallo, David Pace Lupi, Sean Gravina (1 goal), Kurt Griscti, and Kayne Lanzon (1 goal).

Next match is scheduled for Tuesday 22nd March against Sliema at 18.45 hours.
