Exiles bag first three points

Exiles finally broke the duck in this year’s Winter League when they narrowly beat Valletta United with an odd goal (6-5) in tight match when both teams met last night at the National Swimming Pool Complex.

The encounter was characterized by a number of exclusions on the Citizens’ part – eight apart from two penalties suffered. Exiles had just one player excluded. Exiles missed five of their eight man-ups.  Kayne Lanzon’s boys built up a three-goal lead (3-0) half-way through the second quarter before Valletta fought back to reduce the margin to one (2-3) midway through the match. Exiles widened their lead to two goals before their opponents came close (5-6) two minutes before the final horn. Exiles kept their cool to hang on to their slim advantage.

Matthew Castillo,  Chris von Brockdorff, Andrea Bianchi, Philip Paris, Timmy Sullivan (1 goal), Sean Xerri de Caro (1 goal), Mark Fenech (2 goals), Kurt Griscti, Nicky Paris (2 goals), Aurelien Cousin, Benji Lanzon Luca Felice and Gianni Ciappara were included in the team list.

The final match for Exiles is scheduled for Saturday 14th April  when they take on Sliema. Swim-up at 16.15 hours.
