Exiles 4 Neptunes 18
(1-3) (1-6) (1-4) (1-5)
The Premier Winter League of 2014 got underway on Friday 21st February when current winter champions swept past a weak Exiles outfit. The Reds were streets ahead as they piled goals throughout a one-sided affair. Our team’s resistance last for just one quarter before the floodgates opened as the defence was ripped apart. There is no doubt that Coach Aurelien Cousin was forced to rotate the team once the match took a different twist from what was planned. By doing so, Exiles were not balanced in the water and ended exposed to quite a number of goals suffered on counter attacks. Neptunes on their part always retained the bulk of their internationals on the line-up with two slots being shared by the rest of the squad.
Exiles were loaded with 17 personal faults including 2 penalties of which 9 (including the penalties) were converted whilst they failed to score on the 6 occasions when they were in numerical advantage.
For the record also the four goals scored for Exiles were 2 by David Pace Lupi and one-a-piece by Kurt Griscti and Peter Borg.
Our next match is scheduled against Sliema on the 19th March when the Premier League resumes after the Malta national waterpolo team takes on France in the second leg of the Qualification to the European Water Polo Championships Budapest 2014. The match is scheduled for next Saturday the 1st March at 12.30 hours at the National Pool at tal-Qroqq.
