Exiles lose final match

Exiles Jetfreight 7 San Giljan 8

Exiles lost their final match of the preliminary round of the Enemed Waterpolo Cup 2017/2018 when earlier this afternoon, bowed to a depleted San Giljan. It was a slow tempo match in which the Saints practically had the edge over their opponents. Exiles played well in defence  whilst in the attack they kept feeding Aurelien Cousin in the seven-metre area for his final shot. The Frenchman, shadowed by Matthew Zammit  throughout the whole encounter managed to score six of his side’s seven goals

The second and final phase of this tournament start with the Play-Offs to determine the winners and final classification. Exiles finished in the sixth place, the last berth for the next phase of the competition which will be played on a knock-out basis. Next Tuesday 16th January at 18.15, they meet neighbours Sliema who  ended in the 3rd slot team in the classification at the end of the preliminary round. In their last outing, the Blues had the better of Exiles 10-8 and were in command throughout the encounter before a rally by our Boys in the last quarter proved late to earn a point.
