Exiles no match to Neptunes

Exiles 8 Neptunes 18

(1-7) (4-4) (2-2) (1-5)

There was only one team in the pool in the first session of yesterday’s match as Neptunes cut to shreads the Exiles’ rear guard with a 7-1 partial score to seal the issue. The second and third quarters showed that Exiles have the material to give a good run to any of their more quoted opponents when they came back with better build ups which produced goals. The boys managed to trim the gap to five goals and were unlucky not close on to Neptunes who had two key players with two major fouls and forced their coach Muster to revise his plans. The fourth session Exiles let go with the Reds back in the driving seat to win the session 5-1 and the three points at stake.

More is expected from the team as some of the boys are playing below par. Maurizio Mirarchi has to work harder to convince the players of their potential and do away with their shyness. The fighting spirit shown in the the 2nd and 3rd quarters and flashes of individual efforts by some players  should provide the coach the base to build on for the next set of matches.

The Italian Coach  made use of the following players, Ian Bugeja, Julian Rizzo Naudi, Simon Vassallo (1 goal),David Pace Lupi, Romain Blary (2 goals), James Spiteri Staines (1 goal), Sean Gravina, Kurt Griscti (1 goal), Andrea Bianchi, Marco Cuk (3 goals), Kayne Lanzon and youngster Luca Felice who made his debut in the last minutes. Goalkeeper David Abela was not utilized.

Exiles had eight expulsions suffering six resultant goals and a penalty awarded to Neptunes was converted.  Exiles manged just one of the eight man-ups whilst two penalties in our favour were scored by Maro Cuk .

Next match is on Saturday 13th June at 16.45 against San Giljan who have full points after two outings.
