Exiles pick up Neptunes in first Winter League match

At the National Pool tal-Qroqq, the draws were made yesterday lunchtime of this year’s BOV Winter League  in front of the Clubs’ delegates and Press. Exiles will form part of the Premier League which includes also Neptunes, San Giljan, Sirens, Sliema and Valletta.

The league will consist of a round-robin tournament on a one round basis followed by play-offs when the six participating teams are split into two groups of three, according to the classification, with the first three-placed teams playing each other to determine the winner, whilst the second set of teams will also play each other to determine the 4th to the 6th slots in the final classification.

Exiles will make their debut against last year’s runners up, Neptunes when they meet the Reds on the 22nd February. The second match is against neighbours Sliema followed by San Giljan, Valletta and Sirens. We will be covering the matches with short write-ups on the matches played by Exiles throughout the whole series.

There is also a First Division made up of four teams who play each other twice to determine the winner of the League.

Preparation

In the meantime, preparation at the National Pool is in full swing, with the team holding training sessions and now focused on the first tough encounter.
