Exiles soundly beaten on poor display

Exiles 1 Neptunes 14

(0-4) (0-3) (1-4) (0-3)

Last Sunday, the 22nd February,Exiles played their first match in the Winter League organized by the ASA when at the National Pool proved to be too weak to give the Reds a good game as the final score clearly indicates. Matthew Pisani was coach on the bench as he will be deputizing throughout this tournament, in the absence of Italian Maurizio Mirarchi. The swimming power was lacking and it was clearly a no contest for the boys. Exiles have currently Ian Bugeja side-lined due to a shoulder injury but Steve Galea Pace brought off brilliant saves during the encounter to avoid the team further battering. The match saw also the debut of two new signings, Sean Gravina and Andrea Bianchi. The latter was exchanged with Peter Borg who joined San Giljan earlier this month.

We must forget this match and concentrate on the next fixture in this year’s Winter League when the team takes neighbours Sliema tomorrow evening (Saturday 28th February)  at 19.45 hours. The Blues won their first points last week-end when they edged Valletta United 8-4.
