Exiles Under-20 end on a high

Exiles 9 San Giljan 9

(1-3) (1-3) (5-2) (2-1)

Exiles Under 20 yesterday evening ended their season’s programme with a superb display against newly crowned Champions San Giljan. The match was played in very rough sea conditions which normally favours the slower team but the boys won a merited point with a gritty recovery in the third session against a team that has two regular first team players one of whom plays for the  national team. Their team also have two other players who are currently on the fringe of the San Giljan first team.

The result is also the fruit of the hard work of Exiles’ Head Coach Maurizio Mirarchi ably assisted by Simon Vassallo. This a great result when one considers the short bench at their disposal. It also could augur well for the future of these youngsters who need to realize the importance of their commitment towards this fascinating sport.

The long applause at the end of the match by the attentive good crowd of spectators that thronged the Club went towards both sets of teams for an exciting match that could have gone either way after the third session.

The Exiles players who took the water were Steve Galea Pace, Diego Borg, Philip Paris, Michael Paris, Nicky Portelli, Nicky Paris, Benji Lanzon, Luca Peric and Simon Apap.
