Exiles 7 Sirens 13
Partial scores (1-3) (3-2) (2-3) (1-5)
It was yet another defeat for Exiles – their fifth consecutive one- as they bowed to Sirens when they clashed last night at the National Pool to end Round One of this summer’s Premier Waterpolo League without any points and are currently occupying the bottom place of the league table. The last four minutes from the final horn proved fatal when Exiles failed to reduce a two-goal disadvantage (7-9) and were swamped by their opponents’ swimming power. The final score was indeed a harsh one for Maurizio Mirarchi’s boys as during the match Exiles shared the exchanges but the team did not repeat the flashes of determination shown in their previous outing against Valletta United. Most of the attacks were sterile and the team suffered soft goals which had a telling effect.
