GEEKING

In last Friday’s edition of In-Nazzjon (25th September 2015), a local daily in Maltese, their Pool correspondent Stewart Said, penned an interesting article in which he summed up the local Premier Waterpolo season which came to an end earlier this month. Added to the round-up were 18 Facts and Figures about the Premiership – four were related to Exiles – two were negative whilst the other two were positive.

Two involved final scores –  the second encounter between San Giljan and Exiles (19-12) played on the 8th July 2015, produced the highest number of goals whilst in the match Neptunes against Exiles four days earlier on the 4th July 2015 saw the widest margin of goals between the two teams (18-8).

The positive news was that Marco Cuk and Romain Blary piled up 76 goals between them for Exiles throughout the season but had to share this placing with San Giljan’s duo Boris Vapenski and Guillermo ‘Willie” Molina. Marco Cuk proved to be the overall top scorer last season with 52 goals. Undoubtedly, the two foreign players engaged by Exiles this season, proved their worth in the water.

There was another fact which could have been added to the list which Stewart compiled; it was Marco Cuk’s ten goals scored against Sirens in Marco Mirarchi’s Boys’ dramatic win (12-11) on the 11th August. It was indeed a memorable feat for Marco Cuk that made Exiles proud.
