An improved Exiles side but no points

Neptunes 16 Exiles Elia Caterers 10

Partial scores (5-2) (5-4) (3-0) (3-4)

A spirited performance by Exiles was not enough to tilt a clinical Neptunes side when last night both teams met with the Reds meriting the three points.

Igor Vukanovic gave instructions to his team to play the full possession before swimming back into an effective M-Zone to avoid the damage made by their faster opponents. Neptunes also adopted a  possession system and ensured that their best-positioned man finishes the attack. They were quite sharp in the shooting. The final result was never in doubt but Exiles never gave up. More accuracy in the final shot could have kept Exiles in the hunt.

With the match decided at the end of the third quarter (13-6) Neptunes’ Coach Jovan Popovic kept the regulars on the bench and drafted a few youngsters.

Man-Up Exiles 4 on 10 occasions as well as 2 penalties awarded. Neptunes converted 1 of the 5 man-ups.

Igor Vukanovic  made use of the following players Matthew Castillo, Michele Stellini (4 goals), Marco Jelaka (2 goals), Timmy Sullivan (1 goal), Sean Xerri de Caro, Mark Fenech (1 goal), Kurt Griscti, Milos Vukicevic (2 goals), Aurelien Cousin, Nicky Paris, Philip Paris and reserve goalkeeper Max Martin who defended the goalpost in the last two minutes of the match.

Next match is scheduled for next Saturday 27th July at 18.00 when Exiles play San Giljan
