Sirens 16 Exiles Jetfreight 9

More was expected by Exiles after their solid display against neighbours Sliema a week earlier, but once again the team failed to rise to the occasion when last Saturday, they were soundly beaten by a fitter and clinical Sirens team – a crop of promising youngsters. Dorian Pisani’s team resisted just one quarter (3-3) before being outclassed with two partial results of (2-5) for the Northerners to open a six-goal unassailable lead just before the start of the final session which they also won (3-2).

From the terraces, one could not notice how easily Sirens found their opponents’ net and the difficulty of Exiles in breaking the crowded zone defence put up by the Northerners to double mark dangerman Milos Vukicevic in the hole. Poor finishing saw Exiles’ defence being torn by counter attacks of Spanish Sergi Mora and his speedy team mates. It is these basic faults that proved to be the downfall of the Boys’ morale as their opponents outswam them when defending the Exiles’ fort. One also cannot explain the five exclusions suffered by Exiles in the last quarter when both coaches had made several changes in their formations and there was no doubt about the final outcome.

Coach Dorian Pisani utilized the following players Ian Bugeja, Julian Rizzo Naudi, Simon Vassallo, David Pace Lupi, Daniel Borg Millo (1 goal), Sean Gravina (3 goals), Kurt Griscti (1 goal), Nicky Paris, Andrea Bianchi, Milos Vukicevic (3 goals), Kayne Lanzon (1 goal) and Gianni Ciappara who entered two minutes before the end of the third session to defend Exiles goal.

Man Ups: 7 for Sirens 2 converted 5 missed;  7 for Exiles 4 converted and 3 missed. There was also one simultaneous expulsion.

Exiles play their final Premier Division League match against San Giljan next Wednesday 27th July 2016 at 19.30 hours.
