Sirens sink Exiles

Exiles 8 Sirens 14

Partial scores (2-3) (1-6) (2-4) (3-1)

Exiles were struck by six goals by Sirens in the second session of the match played on Friday the 17th July at the National Pool to end, after their last match of the Preliminary Round, at the bottom of the league table. In the Relegation Pool they will now meet again Sirens and Valletta United on a two-round basis to determine the clasification for the 4th to the 6th place in the Waterpolo Premier League.

Exiles were never in the game and this was due to the predictability of their attacks and lack of concentration in the defence. Italian Coach Mirarchi tried every combination but it was to no avail. Some goals conceded were ‘gifts’ which the team cannot afford to suffer as they are demoralizing. Add also two missed penalties and hence the six-goal margin even though one must mention that Sirens gave their second goalkeeper the last two sessions when the game was sealed in their favour.

The next match in connnection with the final placings (4th-6th) will probabaly be on Saturday 25th July at 18.15 hours but this subject to the official fixtures being made public by the Aquatic Sports assocaition (ASA).
