The jubilant Exiles Ladies’s team proudly show their winning medals and the 2015 Knock-Out trophy they lifted last night after beating neighbours Sliema ASC in the final 10-9 after extra time. The match played at the National Pool finished 8-8 after regular time of four sessions. The first extra time session also ended square at 1-1, but the winning goal came in the first minute of the second set of extra three minutes when Elena Borg potted the crucial one for Gordon Zammit’s team to win the encounter and carry the cup.
Yesterday was a red letter day for the Ladies and for the Club for winning their first ever honour in the category.
The congratulations of the Club Committee go to all the members of the team, Abbey Bonello, Stephanie Sciberras, Karla Camilleri, Belinda Azzopardi, Elena Borg, Alexia Scicluna, Nathalie Brewer, Agnese Rella, Samantha Tabone, Monique Mangion, Michaela Zammit, Sasha Lecuyer and Petra Ellul Mercer for their effort as well as to Coach Gordon Zammit who piloted the team towards this merited success.
For the record the scorers in last night’s match were Elena Borg (4 goals) Agnese Rella (3 goals) and one goal apiece Belinda Azzopardi, Alexia Scicluna and Michaela Zammit.
