Exiles played one of their worst performances at the National Pool as they were literally crushed by Valletta United when the two yeams met last night in a one-way affair. The partial scores (1-4) (3-5) (4-6) and (2-6) clearly indicate that there was only one in the water.
After a shaky start, Exiles bridged the gap to three goals with one minute left in the second session but two late goals suffered in the last thirty seconds sank their hopes for an unassailable lead of five goals for the Citizens at the half-way mark (4-9). In the third and last quarter, it wasa formailty for our opponentsa as they hammered in twelve more goals to six potted by Exiles.
Man-ups 6 for Exiles 5 missed and just one conversion. two penalties were awarded and converted. Valletta had 11 numerical superiority and converted 6 whilst there was also a simultaneous exclusion.
The following players were on the match card – Ian Bugeja, Julian Rizzo Naudi (1 goal), Simon Vassallo (1 goal), David Pace Lupi (1 goal), Daniel Borg Millo, Edward Gravina, Sean Gravina, Kurt Griscti, Nicky Paris, Andrea Bianchi (2 goals), Gianni Ciappara, Milos Vukicevic (5 goals), and Kayne Lanzon.
Dorian Pisani must rally the team as another match against Sliema awaits them next Saturday 16th July at 18.00.
