Exiles 9 San Giljan 14
(1-3) (2-6) (2-3) (4-2)
Exiles collected their eleventh consecutive defeat when they lost against the pace-makers San Giljan on Friday the 23rd August.
It was a good start for Exiles as they forged ahead through Julian Rizzo Naudi, but this was short-lived as San Giljan took hold of proceedings when they scored three goals. In the second quarter, the team slacked and conceded six goals against a brace by Voja Cupic and Sasha Radovic to end 3-9 at the half-way mark. The last two sessions were more balanced with the Saints winning the third one (3-2) whilst Exiles won the last quarter (4-2) despite being deprived of Sasha Radovic after having received his third personal major fault.
The match was characterized by a small number of expulsions seven for each team: Exiles missed their first three attempts, and then scored two of their next four chances; San Giljan were slightly sharper having converted three man-ups and missing four attempts.
Scorers for Exiles were Julian Rizzo Naudi (3 goals) (photo), two goals apiece Voja Cupic and Sasha Radovic whilst James Spiteri Staines and Kayne Lanzon put their names on the list with a goal each.
Our final league match against Sirens is scheduled for Friday the 30th August 2013 at the National Pool at 19.15 hours.
