Exiles First Team Latest News
The 1st team squad, under the guidance of Dirk Dowling will shortly commence their pre-season prepartions at the National Pool, Tal-Qroqq once this re-opens next month. In the meantime, the committee are engaged in talks with a top Dutch waterpolo player in view of acquiring his services durig the Summer months, both as a first team player as well as a junior teams coach.

Works at the club-house
During the second committee meeting of the New Year held on Wednesday 18th January, the committee discussed at length the works that need to be carried out at the club-house in order to offer better services to the club members and their guests. The KAPP sub-committee will be taking this task in hand well before season's start.

International tournament, Under 15 / Under 17's
At the committee meeting of Thursday 12th January, Andrew Paris, the Club's President, briefed the committee, that the Club will be organising an international tournament for Under 15's and Under 17's to be held in Malta in mid-July, 2006. Two foreign teams from the UK have already confirmed their participation. Contacts are being made with other local and foreign clubs whilst arrangements are already underway to pre-book lodging which will be offered as part of the package for this tournament. Bon Voyage & Bon Annee to the Dutch-visiting Maltese Exiles Under-15 and Under-17 wanderers
A contingent of young Exiles waterpolo Under-15 and Under-17 players will be in Holland over the New Year, lead by Coach Kurt Dowling, and club President Andrew Paris. The squad will be traveling to Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam, and then to the town of Barendrecht, just after the Christmas festivities, on 29th December. The players will be hosted by the Dutch families of the team ZPB Barendrecht, who had just visited Malta last August. The squads will be participating in friendly waterpolo tournaments, visiting places of interest and attending a football match at the famous Feyenoord stadium. News Snippets:
ASA Winter League Programme Discussed
A meeting was held at the ASA headquarters in Tal-Qroqq during which the Senior waterpolo championships were discussed. The Wilkinson Sword Winter waterpolo league will be held from the first week of March onwards, whilst the preliminary round of the Wilkinson Sword Summer waterpolo league will commence during the first weekend of June. Although not formally decided, it seems that there is consensus amongst clubs to allow five teams to participate in the first division with the remaining teams contesting the second division, after the preliminary round.
EXILES Under 15s / Under17s : Last training Sessions
The Exiles Under 15 and Under 17 squads will have their last two training sessions on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th December prior to the forthcoming trip to Barendrecht in Holland. The sessions will be held at the Ta` Qali Pool of the Malta Football Association from 13.00 – 15.00 hours.
Two Foreign Teams Show Interest in the Summer Junior Exiles International Tournament
Two foreign waterpolo teams, one from England and another from Northern Ireland have indicated that they would be interested in visiting Malta during the month of July to participate in the Exiles International waterpolo tournaments for Under 15s and Under 17s. More teams will be contacted in the near future......
ASA Swimming trials
Sat 26th November:
Seven children will be participating in the ASA time swimming trials on Saturday 26th November at the National Pool Tal-Qroqq. The swimmers representing Exiles: Francesca Imm, Michael Paris, Timmy Paris, Stefan Herbert, Diego Borg, Matthew Zammit and Alan Schembri Wismayer.
Swimming meeting at RTH 11th December:
Exiles will be participating in a swimming meeting on the 11th of December at Ir-Razzett tal-Hbiberija. Further details will be published shortly.
National Pool:

Following pressure exerting by most clubs, including a letter in The Times written by the Exiles President, The Malta Sports Council has decided to keep the National Pool open during the month of December. This will enable the Under 15 and Under 17 teams continue with their training preparations for the forthcoming trip to Holland from Thursday 29th December till Thursday 5th January.
New waterpolo pitches:
The Committee has decided to invest in two new waterpolo pitches, one for the Under 15/17 and first team squads and another for the Under12s, with new mini goalposts. The costs of these pitches and goalposts is envisaged to be in the region of Lm800. A number of fundraising activities will be held throughout the Winter months in order to raise these funds. The first such activity was a well attended quiz barbecue night held at Hal-Ghaxaq in October which generated a profit of Lm200.
Players overseas:
Two Exiles Senior players, Timmy Sullivan and David Pace Lupi are currently away from the island on studies and work experiences respectively. Timmy is in Hungary and is training and playing with a Hungarian second division club in Budapest. David is in Rimini, Italy and is currently training and playing for a masters team in the same town.
ASA news:
The Annual General Meeting of the Aquatic Sports Association (http://www.asaofmalta.org/) will be held on Tuesday 29th November. Amongst other matters up for discussion is the foreign player issue. As always Exiles have taken an active part in the discussions regarding this important and at times controversial issue. Exiles have also nominated lawyer Dr. Adrian Camilleri for the post of Vice-President, Administration. Dr. Camilleri, whose father Gino is an ex-Exiles and ASA president will certainly be an asset to the ASA.

Following our successful quiz-night at Ghaxaq (courtesy of the Paris's), and the 5-a-side football tournament, these activities are on the cards:
- A general knowledge quiz in February.
- A Eurovision-pools night in April/May.
