Club President's message, March, 2006

Photos of past times - can you send us the players' names!

(10 March, 2006)
Timmy Sullivan signs a new four year contract

Exiles 1st Team player of the year 2005, Timmy Sullivan, has put pen to paper and signed a new four year contract with the club according to ASA rules. Timmy, whose contract expired at the end of the 2005 season has been playing waterpolo with Exiles for the past nine years. We wish Timmy a long extension of a successful career at the club.

(10 March, 2006)
Five Former Under 15's sign new six year contracts

According to the ASA rules, players who would have played their last season at Under 15 level have to sign a new six year contract with any club before they can play competitive waterpolo.  It is with extreme satisfaction for the club to announce that Alan Borg Cole, Simon Vassallo, Kurt Griscti, Daniel Micallef and Kevin Anastasi have all signed such a contract with Exiles. This vindicates the club’s investments, both financial and other, in its youth set-up. We wish all five boys long and successful Exiles careers.

(10 March, 2006)
Foreign Player ………………… An update.

As mentioned previously the club has been pursuing the services of a top Dutch International waterpolo player for some time. We have now reached verbal agreements with our targeted player who plays professionally in Greece, and are awaiting confirmation in writing. We are sure that all our players, young and old , will benefit from the presence of such player in our teams. It must be pointed out that besides training and playing with the senior waterpolo team, the foreign player will also be coaching our junior waterpolo players.

(10 March, 2006)
Wilkinson Sword ASA Winter League …. Why Exiles did not take part.

The Committee decided that as preparation began late, mainly due to the National Pool’s closure and work commitments of some of our players, together with the fact that two of our first team players, namely Timmy Sullivan and David Pace Lupi, were abroad it would be in the better interest of the team to refrain from participating in the Winter League Competition.

(10 March, 2006)
Training Schedules …….. Seniors and Juniors.

The first team and U15/U17 teams are training regularly now at the National Swimming Pool Tal-Qroqq. The first team, under the guidance of Dirk Dowling are training three times a week whilst the junior training sessions are being conducted by Kurt Dowling and Michael Paris twice / three times a week.

(10 March, 2006)
Sponsorships …… First team sponsor still not concluded, junior sponsorships secured.

The committee is actively working on the first team sponsor which, in all probability, will be different as from this year. Nothing has been finalised however. On the other hand, the Under 15 team will once again compete under the name of EXILES PRINGLES and the Under 17s will compete as EXILES TIKAMS.

We have also secured a sponsorship from Nestle` Malta Limited who will be sponsoring two Summer events, namely The EXILES NESTLE` WATER GAMES and THE NESTLE` SWIMMING SCHOOL CHALLENGE. Finally we have also received confirmation from the MALTA TOURISM AUTHORITY who will be co-sponsoring our Under 15 and Under 17 International waterpolo tournament which will be held in July.

(10 February, 2006)
From The President ……………… February 2006
What a start to the New Year !
As I am sure you all followed on the website, we had an amazing time in Holland. Everything went well and from the posts and photos put up by the boys, you can really tell we had the time of our lives. What I wanted to add to all that has been written is that all the Exiles players were impeccably behaved, listened to our instructions and warnings and were no trouble whatsoever.

(19 January, 2006)

Pool
Following pressure exerting by most clubs, including a letter in The Times written by the Exiles President, The Malta Sports Council has decided to keep the National Pool open during the month of December. This will enable the Under 15 and Under 17 teams continue with their training preparations for the forthcoming trip to Holland from Thursday 29th December till Thursday 5th January.

New waterpolo pitches:
The Committee has decided to invest in two new waterpolo pitches, one for the Under 15/17 and first team squads and another for the Under12s, with new mini goalposts. The costs of these pitches and goalposts is envisaged to be in the region of Lm800. A number of fundraising activities will be held throughout the Winter months in order to raise these funds. The first such activity was a well attended quiz barbecue night held at Hal-Ghaxaq in October which generated a profit of Lm200.

Players overseas:
Two Exiles Senior players, Timmy Sullivan and David Pace Lupi are currently away from the island on studies and work experiences respectively.
